Pinewood Derby - Zachary

Here is Zachary with his car named "Derby Eater". This is Zachary's first Pinewood Derby.
Here is dad putting graphite on the wheels. So proud of his boys.
Here is Zachary's den. They were so excited to have there cars race first!
Here is his car getting ready to race. His is the black with orange on top.
There was a mix up this year with the awards. Each car raced four times. Zachary's took 2nd, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. We were surprised to see that he came in fifth in his den. We asked around quietly not wanting to make a fuss and no one seemed to know. Anyway, Zachary was disappointed and confused but we had a talk and everything was okay. Then a few weeks later the results were emailed out and Zachary had in fact taken third in this den. He was only one hundredth of a second away from second place. He was so happy to get a metal!
Here he is with his car and ribbon.
I decided since we have four boys and are going to end up with ton of pinewood derby cars, we are going to make a pinewood derby shrine in our basement family room. Then we can display all that hard work!

Pinewood Derby - Spencer

This was Spencer's second year for the Pinewood Derby. He worked hard with dad on the design, cutting, painting, and getting the weights and wheels just right.
Spencer got to lead the audience in the pledge and presenting the colors. He was so relaxed and spoke loud and clear.
Here are the cars being lined up for the first race. Spencer's is the red and black one.
Here is some of his fellow cubscouts cheering on the cars.
Spencer's car did really well and he got second in his den! So he got to move on to compete in the finals.
Here are all the cars lined up for the finals.
And off they go!
Spencer's car did great! He came in fifth overall! (Approx. 60 raced)

Happy Birthday Zachary!

Zachary turned seven this year! We had a few friends from school over to celebrate with us! Shhh...he invited a girl! But at school I guess she is one of the guys. :)
Here he is so excited for his gifts. He is a nut! I think his friends were a little scared of him. :)
So happy! He couldn't stop grining.
Zachary and Rex got remote control cars for Rex's birthday. We saved the Wii for Zachary's birthday. The boys worked really hard at saving money and doing jobs to earn it. They earned $150 so I gave $25 each to Rex and Zachary for their birthdays. Zachary is doing the party dance in the back. He couldn't even finish unwrapping it.

Happy Birthday Rex!

Rex turned five his year! He is getting big and getting ready to start school in the fall.
Here are a bunch of crazy boys. They played really good together and had a fun time.
Rex got some fun toys! He loved them so much, he was sad to see them go for a few months while they make there way to our new home.
We had a little bit of a different b-day this year. Zachary's and Rex's birthdays are close together so this year they both got presents on each others birthday. You will see why on the next post.
